Symfony Book Preview
There’s a sneak preview chapter available from the upcoming Apress Symfony book.
It’s Chapter 15, the Symfony Unit Test chapter.
In Symfony’s forthcoming v1.0, there is a new, custom Unit Test framework called Lime.
In depth documentation about all the new features of v1.0, have been sorely missing, but not only will this book fill the void, it will become the official documentation for the whole project, and also available online for free.
If you use Symfony, please support the project by ordering a paper copy.
Support Ardour
Ardour, the amazing open source Digial Audio Workstation (Free Pro Tools-ish software for Linux and Mac), is nearing completion of v2.0.
The main financial sponsor, SSL, may have finally realized they were helping to create the monster that would eat them alive, and now have ceased financial support to Paul Davis, Ardour’s project leader.
Help get Ardour to v2!
There are two easy ways to contribute:
1) click on the PayPal donation button on the project home page (as of today, almost $1,000 has been donated)
2) Support the Ardour team and stay fly with a h0t Ardour T-Shirt, in any style you want (Powered by the very very cool Zazzle custom product cart engine)
Fedora 6
I’ve been using Fedora 6 at work for a couple weeks now. It’s pretty slick, much faster and solid that 5, and the desktop effects rival those of OSX. yes, really.
If you think I’m the only crazy person who uses Fedora as a desktop OS, please note the stats. There are over a million other people as crazy as me.
***PHP related side note, turn Fedora “Desktop Effects” completely off before opening up Zend Studio, or it won’t render the GUI interface. Once it’s open, you can turn effects back on.
The Anti-DRM Movement
Great podcast with Ian Rogers and Dave Goldberg of Yahoo! Music, about the need to remove DRM.
