Treo 700p - Ordered
Just ordered my Treo 700p directly from Palm.
Sprint told me they won’t have the phone in the stores until July. I can barely use my 600 now as it is (the antenna fell off during a Dead Prez concert a few weeks ago ).
For a limited time, Palm is offering free overnight shipping and if you have a 650, you can get an additional $150 if you trade up.
Did I mention the 700p connects at DSL speed to the net?
Free Music Studio Part I
This year, I’ve decided to rebuild my once very active home studio, the new skool way. My goal is to build a functional studio out of cheap, off the shelf PC hardware, and entirely Free Software. I hope to catalog my trek, which has no deadline and no set schedule.
One crucial ongoing decision has been what OS/Platform to use. My choices have narrowed to Dyne::bolic, Musix, or CCRMA on Fedora. Each come with pros/cons, and I will may even try each of them for a while and post my results.
CCRMA (pronouced “karma”) is my current favorite, because it runs on Fedora, however according to discussions on the new Fedora Music List, it’s not quite ready for FC5 yet.
I will post more as I get deeper. Suggestions and other’s Experience is welcome.
Support The EFF
I am now a proud member of the EFF.
I had previously held mixed feelings toward the group, as I tend to straddle the fence on the issue of file sharing, something in which they seem to own such a flagship stake in. But as an AT&T customer, reading the details of the case, has disgusted me so much, that it provoked me to imediately open my wallet and join the cause. Speakeasy VOIP, here I come.
Our government has never had more power than it does right now, and it’s incredibly important for us as a culture to stand up for the very rights we fought for during the bloody birth of this nation. We stood up to the British for the right to privacy, freedom, and human rights, and yet, as we move toward a digital society, it’s never been easier, and cheaper for our own leaders to violate the same rights they are supposed to uphold.
Please join the Electronic Frontier Foundation with a donation. If you’re “too busy” to protest, then give good people the power to do it for you.
Need convincing? Just look at what they did in 2005.
Protecting Freedom by removing it, is not an option I can live with.
Make your voice heard, before you lose the right to use it.

A Legal Blessing
So I was curiously nosing through some SqlLite source code (just because I can), and noticed this great license, especially considering the date it’s stamped with.

Installing Zend Studio on Fedora 5
If it doesn’t work like it’s supposed to, follow the instructions here. You’ll need to do this both on the original ZendStudio-5_1_0.bin file you downloaded, and on /usr/local/Zend/ZendStudioClient-5.1.0/bin/ZDE once it’s installed.
