Let the Ramblings Begin
aww shit. Mong has a blog.
Process
wow, 2005.
I’ve been messing with php every day for over 4 years now. And it’s only getting better.
My focus for this year is on Process, Process, Process.
PHP5 has opened up the doors for a real, polished ’software development’ approach, and I’m very comitted to getting myself up to speed with all that.
For the last few months I’ve been experimenting a lot, trying to find the best mixture of PHP IDEs/Patterns/Version Control and Debugging. It’s an ongoing experience, but I’m making progress. Code is getting cleaner, projects are getting larger, and I’m stressing less.
My nerdy goals for this year:
- continually refine my coding/project process
- learn and implement PHPUnit
- migrate everything i can around me to php5
- release at least 2 or 3 packages (actual usefulness not required
)
- get my php4 certification
- open and read my first java book
I’m deeply interested in Software Design Theory now, and I’ve only really scratched the surface. I know that I just have to learn by doing this year, so here I go.
I hope to publish some lessons I’ve learned, and hopefully not embarrass myself too much along the way.
I’m very much looking for help, advice and comments on ways to better code, and manage projects. Please stay tuned, read my rants, and feel free to tell me I’m an idiot.
should be an interesting year.
New Year, mo’ blogging
Well hello, and happy new year!
I know it’s a little late for the new years greetings, but i’ve been swamped with projects already.
I’ve decided I’m going to blog more this year. And I’m hoping to make my posts actually mean something to more than just me. I’m making a “PHP” category, in which I hope to discuss the exciting things going on with PHP these days. If that’s not your cup of tea, hopefully you can sort postings by category, and pretend they don’t exist.
Cheers.
